Both the words and the music of „Volin pure lontano dal sen” seem to us to express the perception of the weakening of a bond and the desire to delude oneself of being able to restore it. We were therefore delighted to hear it entrusted, this time, to the Madre, the talented Dorota Szczepańska, who was able to draw from it the portrait of a woman on the verge of fading (it is clear that the effect does not derive in any way from the voice, but excellent interpretation). The smooth accompaniment in triplets with typical and repeated upbeat attacks was created on the viola da gamba by Marc de La Linde, with a beauty of sound and a convergence of phrasing with the Polish soprano that have already made this potentially „decorative” side one of the highlights of the evening. No less effective were Szczepańska’s interventions in the „choirs” of the Baptist’s disciples and in the recitatives in which they simultaneously compete.
