Na premierze w Kleopatrę wcieliła się Dorota Szczepańska. Ta śpiewaczka zyskała moją sympatię programem Lamento Project. Od Monteverdiego do Stinga, który zaprezentowała w tegorocznych Ogrodach Muzycznych. A teraz jako Kleopatra zachwyciła mnie. Maksymalnie wykorzystała przewagę nad innymi postaciami, jaką stworzyli kompozytor z librecistą. Zmienia się nawet fizycznie, kiedy przebiera się za swoją służącą. Wychodząc przed kurtynę, za każdym razem wygląda inaczej. W każdej arii sugestywnie odsłania inny rys charakteru Kleopatry. Podczas jednej arii prawie tańczy. O perfekcji wokalnej, mogłabym w ogóle nie wspominać, bo jest ona u tej śpiewaczki oczywista.

In the premiere, Cleopatra was played by Dorota Szczepańska. This singer won my admiration with her Lamento Project program, from Monteverdi to Sting, which she presented at this year’s Ogrody Muzyczne (Musical Gardens Festival). And now, as Cleopatra, she amazed me. She maximally exploited the advantage that the composer and librettist gave her character over the others. She even physically transforms when she disguises herself as her servant. Every time she steps in front of the curtain, she looks different. In each aria, she vividly reveals a different facet of Cleopatra’s character. In one aria, she almost dances. I wouldn’t even need to mention her vocal perfection because, with this singer, it’s a given.
